Health Care

JCO looks at working with medical students, and health care professionals (practicing or retired) in various sectors of the medical field. This will expose them to a health system that is different from that of their home country, with different diseases, treatment methods, and diversity of culture. It can be really interesting for interns and volunteers to experience the clinical routine in Kenya and experience new challenges career-wise. You will also get an insight into the healthcare challenges people face every day in developing countries. Many medical facilities in Kenya lack resources. You’ll get to see how doctors cope when supplies run out and learn to diagnose and treat diseases you wouldn’t encounter in your home country.

If you are seeking healthcare and social work volunteer opportunities, contact JCO to help select a project that aligns with your area of expertise. We work in small clinics and big hospitals that include different departments. The departments are Child Welfare, Maternity, physiotherapy, pharmacy, dentistry, paramedics, clinical laboratory science, emergency medicine, speech therapy, optometry, nutrition, public health, orthopedics, radiology, HIV/AIDS support, midwifery, and pediatrics, Outpatient Unit, Observation Unit, Laboratory, and Pharmacy.

This project runs all year round so you can organize a trip whenever it suits your schedule and depending on the availability of JCO program slots. You can join for as long as you like, with a minimum duration of one month.
